When it snows, Jersey City kids are bound to be excited to get outside and play. But this year, make the snow even more exciting by visiting one of these three excellent sledding spots near Jersey City.
Our own local park is, of course, our first stop. While there may not be massive hills here, there are a lot of smaller hills that young children can enjoy with an unobstructed view of the Statue of Liberty and Manhattan. For the best hills, make your way toward the Empty Sky Memorial. Learn more about Liberty State Park.
Next, visit the nation’s first county park — Branch Brook Park in Newark. Here the hills are much larger but there are hills of all sizes so you can come here with just about any age child and expect to find great slopes. When the weather warms up, it’s well worth coming back to see the cherry blossoms here, which are the most extensive collection of cherry blossoms in the country. Learn more about Branch Brook Park.
Of course, if you are looking for sledding in NYC, there’s no better place than Central Park’s Pilgrim Hill. Essentially the most sought after sledding hill in the NYC-Jersey City area, the easiest way to access Pilgrim Hill is by way of 72nd street and Fifth Avenue.
